Dr. Chaim is an Assistant Professor at the Bar-Ilan Law Faculty.

Her research focuses on corporate law, corporate governance, and capital markets, with particular emphasis on the regulatory challenges arising from the significant transformations that capital markets have undergone over the past two decades. Within this framework, she analyses the implications of changes in the ownership and control structures of public companies for corporate behaviour, including ESG matters.

In a joint research project with Prof. Gideon Parchomovsky, a leading scholar at the University of Pennsylvania and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, she examines the next generation of ESG against the backdrop of the weakening of the traditional model, which relied primarily on influence through capital markets and institutional investors. The project shows that this model has become less stable and less effective in recent years, due in part to legal, political, and structural critiques. Against this background, the research proposes to broaden the lens and examine how employees and consumers — alongside investors - may serve as significant sources of pressure, information, and influence on corporations. Through legal and comparative analysis, the project develops a new framework for understanding the conditions under which environmental and social preferences shape corporate behaviour and may lead to meaningful changes in corporate policy, disclosure, and governance.
