Law and Environment Hackathon 2026 — Competition Underway

Eight teams from Israel's leading academic institutions are competing to develop innovative regulatory solutions to climate and environmental challenges.

The Law and Environment Hackathon 2026 is underway, and the competition is in full swing. Eight outstanding teams from four of Israel's leading academic institutions — the University of Haifa, Bar-Ilan University, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv University — are developing creative, practical solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in environmental regulation, climate policy, and waste management in Israel.

The competing teams receive close professional mentorship from leading figures in law, policy, and the environment — the Center's partners in the competition: the Barnea Jaffa Lande & co law offices, the Ramat Gan Municipality Environmental Unit, the Dan Region Association of Towns for Sanitation, and the Bar-Ilan University School of Sustainability and the Environment, alongside business mentor Dr. Anat Levi Raz, who accompanies the teams. This mentorship enables students to translate their ideas into actionable, high-impact policy proposals.

The winning team will be announced at a festive event on September 7, 2026 — a gathering that will bring together Israel's environmental law community and showcase the best ideas to emerge from the competition.
