My doctoral dissertation qualitatively examines early object relations and attachment styles among patients diagnosed with bipolar disorder who have a history of substance use. The study aims to explore potential links between early experiences with significant figures and patterns of substance use within this population.

My research enriches the understanding of how culture is deeply embedded in mental distress and  acts as a contributing factor in the development of violence and criminal behavior among forensic individuals from the Druze community in Israel. This perspective offers a fundamental shift in approaches to mental disorders, emphasizing the crucial role of cultural factors in comprehending the roots of pathological behavior beyond the clinical setting.

Associations between Risk Behaviors and Self-Injury and Suicidal Ideation Among Jewish and Arab Adolescents in Israel: The Role of Gender and Ethnic Group Affiliation

This study is among the first in Israel to apply an intersectional lens to examine how gender and ethnic group affiliation jointly shape the links between a wide range of adolescent risk behaviors and self-injury and suicidal ideation within a stratified sociocultural context. It advances the field by distinguishing passive from active suicidal ideation and by testing their associations with both individual and cumulative risk behaviors across Jewish and Arab boys and girls.
