Cultural Awareness in clinical criminology: the case of the Druze community in israel
My research enriches the understanding of how culture is deeply embedded in mental distress and acts as a contributing factor in the development of violence and criminal behavior among forensic individuals from the Druze community in Israel. This perspective offers a fundamental shift in approaches to mental disorders, emphasizing the crucial role of cultural factors in comprehending the roots of pathological behavior beyond the clinical setting. Recognizing culture as a formative factor within the constellation of causes leading to distress and criminality points to the central role cultural components play in shaping pathological and behavioral processes
