Focused Interventions

In a world where many individuals suffering from emotional distress do not receive adequate care due to financial barriers and a shortage of professionals, our research focuses on developing targeted, Single-Session Interventions (SSI). These are designed to provide meaningful assistance in a brief timeframe, making mental health care accessible to a broader audience by overcoming structural barriers like cost and availability—without compromising professional quality or scientific rigor.

The unique therapeutic model studied in our clinic, led by Prof. Eshkol Rafaeli, lies in the integration of motivational science with clinical practice. We proactively identify the unmet psychological needs underlying a patient's distress and provide a focused, personalized intervention. By utilizing advanced technological tools, such as algorithms that analyze digital diary reports, we diagnose which core need is most critical for the patient—whether it be the need for belonging, self-efficacy, or self-worth. The patient then receives a dedicated therapeutic "module" containing proven techniques to address their specific need. This approach leads to a significant reduction in symptoms and an improvement in mental well-being within a very short period.
