My credo
Maybe not everyone can be entrepreneur. But I believe everyone who wants should try it iuvenes dum sumus. Since Israel is not blessed with huge potential markets or very favorable geopolitical situation, we should target problems that require deep tech solutions with solid scientific foundations. Therefore in my opinion, every potential entrepreneur should target advanced degrees study during which a core idea should emerge. After successful completion of her/his PhD, a new entrepreneur should turn to commercialization.
My entrepreneurial experience
To wit, this is my own history. After completion of my postgraduate studies, I took the entrepreneurial path, becoming a co-founder and CTO, of VisionTech.
VisionTech emerged as a fabless semiconductor startup that developed, designed and marketed a single chip MPEG2 codec for consumer applications.
VisionTech products powered personal video recorders (such as famous TiVo) and enabled a wide proliferation of personal video recording (where live TV broadcast could be paused and program be recorded locally), which quickly became standard-de-facto in all TVs.
VisionTech was the 1st company Broadcom acquired in Israel, to became the basis for Broadcom Israel.
