Welcome to Leonid Yavits's website

We design the chips that drive AI revolution

My name is Leonid Yavits. I'm with EnICS Center at Engineering department of Bar Ilan University. My professional history is a combination of hightech entrepreneurship and academia. After completing my MSc in electrical engineering in Technion, I co-founded VisionTech, a fabless semiconductor company that developed ASIC products for digital TV market. VisionTech was acquired by Broadcom corporation in 2001 to become the basis for Broadcom Israel.

After completing my PhD in electrical and computing engineering in Technion, I became a faculty member at Engineering department in Bar Ilan, specializing in computer architecture and chip design.

Silicon chips are the engine powering the AI revolution, enabling the vast computational demands of deep learning and data-driven technologies. As AI capabilities increasingly define economic and defense competitiveness, advanced semiconductors have become central to modern trade competition, with nations racing to secure chip manufacturing and design leadership. At the forefront of this domain are computer architects—the elite of chip designers—who craft the foundational structures that determine performance, efficiency, and scalability. Their innovations shape not only the future of computing but also the balance of global technological power.
