Injection locking to aid frequency conversion

Electro-optic frequency combs enable high-resolution spectroscopy, yet their optical power can be insufficient for high signal-to-noise measurements, particularly after spectral translation to target wavelengths. Here we demonstrate that injection locking a Fabry–Perot laser diode to an electro-optic comb containing over one million teeth coherently amplifies the entire comb, achieving performance far superior to semiconductor optical amplifiers in the low-power regime.
