Do couples and therapeutic dyads share the same “helpful” interaction sequences?
Beyond identifying dynamic patient-therapist configurations, including the affect, behavior, cognition, and desire (ABCD; Atzil-Slonim, 2025; Revelle, 2007), we also examine whether similar patterns emerge in other relational contexts, such as couple interactions.
This study maps affective, behavioral, cognitive, and motivational elements in both partners and tests how specific interaction temporal sequences predict adaptive couple outcomes. More broadly, it aims to clarify the cycles through which partners support and regulate one another, and to show how these processes illuminate similarities between couple and therapeutic dyads.
