Biological Network Systems

Our research lab is interdisciplinary, dedicated to unraveling the complexities of complex biological network systems, with a particular focus on gene regulatory networks, aging, and physiological networks. We develop innovative computational methodologies drawn from a variety of fields, including artificial intelligence, computational biology, ecology, nonlinear dynamics, statistical mechanics, and especially network science. We rigorously validate our theories and approaches through carefully designed biological experiments conducted in our lab. Our ultimate goal is to enhance our understanding of tissue biology and physiology, leading to improved diagnostics and therapeutics that can significantly advance patient care. Central to our research is the exploration of the intricate relationships between the structure and dynamics of complex networks, which are fundamental to tissue function and stability.

Students interested in a research project at the interface of biology, engineering, physics, computer science and mathematics are welcome to contact Orr for more details. Orr.levy@gmail.com

Open Phd Positions

PhD Position. Students with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any science or engineering field are encouraged to apply. Self-motivated candidates with a strong academic foundation are particularly welcome. Research experience in either experimentation or simulation, as well as publications, is preferred but not required.

Interested candidates should contact Dr. Levy (levyorr@biu.ac.il) with the following: Anticipated start date, transcripts (for PhD applicants), a CV detailing academic and/or research achievements. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled. Applicants with a strong fit will be contacted for an interview.

Open Postdoc Positions

Postdoctoral Candidates with a PhD in any science or engineering field, particularly in math, physics, electrical engineering, software engineering, computer science, computational biology or biology, are encouraged to apply. Self-motivated individuals with a theoretical and computational background is a must. An advantage would be given to those with experimental background, especially in in-vitro cells experiments. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to develop their own research project while mentoring student projects. Successful candidates are expected to contribute to high-impact publications.
