Network physiology

Understanding the complex, multi-scale interactions among physiological systems and their dynamic behavior under varying conditions

The human organism is an integrated network where complex physiological systems, each with its own regulatory mechanisms, continuously interact, and where failure of one system can trigger a breakdown of the entire network. We develop a framework to measure novel network features using multi-modal data. Our aim: shift the current understanding of complex brain related diseases from a single-organ-affected condition to a systems-wide network dysfunction.
