Dr. Omer Pelled, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor | Law and Economics | Private Law | Health Law

LL.B. (Magna Cum Laude, 2012), LL.M. (1st in class, 2013), and Ph.D. (Tel Aviv University, 2018). Postdoctoral fellowships at the Hebrew University Federmann Center for the Study of Rationality and the Tel Aviv University Department of Industrial Engineering. Visiting scholar, University of Chicago Law School (2015). Recent work has appeared in the Yale Journal of Health Policy, Law, and Ethics, the Yale Journal on Regulation, Theoretical Inquiries in Law, and the Journal of Legal Analysis.

My research explores how private law should allocate risk, information, and responsibility under uncertainty. I work across tort law, contract law, medical law, evidence, civil procedure, and AI governance, using law-and-economics analysis, behavioral insights, and doctrinal theory.

Much of my work asks how legal rules shape behavior: how damages should be calculated when facts are uncertain, when courts should use or ignore outcome evidence, how liability rules can create robust incentives, and how contract remedies operate when performance obligations require interpretation. My recent projects extend these questions to AI in healthcare and contracting, including AI-supported informed consent, the regulation of AI as part of care, and AI escrow mechanisms for commercial negotiations.
