Yaakov started his PhD in computational biology in 2009 in Prof. Yoram Louzoun’s lab, studying viral epitope prediction and immune evasion. In 2013, he joined Prof. David Schatz’s lab at Yale School of Medicine to study immune-driven DNA editing. He later became a Staff Scientist at the National Cancer Institute (NIH) in the Genome Instability Laboratory under Dr. André Nussenzweig. In 2019, he joined the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine, where his lab studies genome instability in cancer using combined computational and experimental approaches.

Nurit earned her BSc. and MSc. in life science from Ben Gurion University. She done her PhD. At the Technion under the supervision of Prof. Yechezkel Kashi and Prof. Ilan Marek studing The Mechanism of Alkanes Dehydrogenation by Rhodococcus. Nurit worked for many years in the field of human genetics, her last position as incharge of the molecular laboratory, Genetic Instetute, Galilee Medical Center. Nurit joined as Lab manager at 2024.

I earned my BSc. in Biology and Medical Sciences and my MSc. in Human Biology at the University of Haifa. I later moved to continue my PhD studies at the Faculty of Medicine in Safed, where I joined the Maman lab because of its broad range of molecular biology approaches.
My research focuses on understanding how specialized enzymes, known as RAG, which play a central role in immune system development, are guided to the correct locations in the genome, and how epigenetic signals help ensure this process is accurate and safe.

I earned my B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Sciences from Hadassah College in Jerusalem, followed by an M.Sc. at Poriya Medical Center. In 2023, I began my Ph.D. under the supervision of Kobi Maman, whose laboratory uniquely integrates multiple approaches, including biological and molecular methods. My research focuses on the molecular mechanisms by which Helicobacter pylori contributes to the development of gastric cancer.

Riham earned her bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from Safed College. She joined the Maman lab at 2022 and got her MSc. in Medical Sciences. Riham chose to continue to her PhD studies in our lab, where she found the research environment and scientific questions that matched her interests. Her research explores how a tiny bacterium that lives in our stomach can lead to cancer development years after it has been cleared.

My scientific journey began at Hadassah College, where I completed my BSc. I then pursued my master’s degree at the Hebrew University under the supervision of Prof. Shosh Ravid. I worked at FORE Biotherapeutics in Ness Ziona, where I gained valuable industry experience. In 2024, I began my PhD in the Kobi Maman lab, marking an exciting shift in my research path from experimental bench work to the world of bioinformatics and I’m always curious about what data can reveal that cells won’t tell you directly.

I am an MD-PhD student with a BSc in Molecular Biology. I was born and raised in Northern Israel and remain deeply connected to the region. My research focuses on non-Helicobacter pylori Helicobacter (NHPH) species, aiming to provide novel insights into their role in human gastric disease. I became a first-time mother, an experience that further strengthens my commitment to meaningful and impactful research.
