Policing and Care in the Digital Age

Regulating Violence and Supporting Survivors through Digital Tools

How are the regulations of violence and the treatment of victims changing in the digital age?
Zur examines how urban policing is being transformed in a world that is constantly documented and surveilled. Police and citizens now operate within a landscape shaped by body-worn cameras, predictive systems, and online monitoring. These technologies reshape community–police relations and redefine the boundaries of oversight, transparency, and accountability.

In the field of support for victims/survivors of violence, Zur leads research on technological innovation in services for women experiencing intimate partner violence. In another project, she examines human vs machine in online chat services for survivors of sexual violence. This research seeks to explore the significance of the human quality in encounters designed to provide support to those who have experienced sexual trauma.
