Localized Ultrafast Phenomena

The response of nanostructures and quantum materials to light can evolve over extremely short timescales and over nanometer-scale distances. We investigate these localized ultrafast processes to understand how optical excitation drives energy flow, carrier dynamics, lattice motion, and changes in the optical properties of nanoscale systems.

Our goal is to bridge the spatial resolution of nanoimaging with the temporal resolution of ultrafast spectroscopy, allowing us to follow light-induced processes both in space and in time.

We are particularly interested in ultrafast dynamics in resonant nanophotonic structures and low-dimensional materials, including processes involving electronic excitations, phonons, thermal transport, and dynamically modified optical resonances. Understanding these processes can ultimately enable faster and more efficient active nanophotonic devices.
