Welcome to Nanoscale Optics and Metamaterials Research Lab
Prof. Tomer Lewi's Research Lab
Our group explores how light interacts with matter at the nanoscale, with an emphasis on discovering new physical phenomena and translating them into functional nanophotonic and quantum-photonic platforms. We combine concepts from nanophotonics, condensed-matter physics, quantum materials, materials science, and optical spectroscopy to investigate and control electromagnetic fields far below the wavelength of light.
Our research spans the full cycle from fundamental concepts to experiments and devices. We design and study optical nanoantennas, resonant nanostructures, metasurfaces, and hybrid nanophotonic systems incorporating 2D and quantum materials, and investigate how their optical response can be actively controlled through material properties and external stimuli.
