My research interests focus on the modern Arab Middle East - politics and ideology and international politics of the Middle East. I studied extensively the relations between the great powers (the Soviet Union particularly) and countries of the region - mainly Egypt and Syria throughout the Cold War. Modern ideologies were tested in practice - Nasserism, Ba‘thism, Arab neutralism, third worldism. My most recent study deals with Egyptian-Israeli relations.
