Exploring Parent-Adolescent Synchrony and Flexible Synchrony and Their Role in Enhancing Adolescent Well-being
While some studies emphasize the benefits of synchronized interactions between parents and adolescents, others do not find such positive outcomes. Therefore, viewing parent-adolescent synchrony as a construct that should be viewed in a dynamic fashion via flexibility is of relevance, as occasionally the parent-adolescent dyad may benefit from moments of de-synchronization. Moreover, evaluating the contribution of key developing abilities of youth as contributing to flexible synchrony is important. Our current study aims to shed light on these issues.
