A perspective to understand emotion (dys)regulation in depression

Depression, once viewed through behavioral and cognitive lenses, has, in the last decade, come to be viewed in terms of emotion reactivity and regulation. Given the high prevalence and chronicity of depression, a better understanding of emotional irregularities in this debilitating disorder is paramount. We examine emotion (dys)regulation in depression through the lens of emotion coherence and, in doing so, advances a dynamic perspective on emotion coherence that emphasizes its transient nature and utility for emotion regulation research.
