Dr Liel Sapir

Dr. Liel Sapir

Liel obtained his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, working under the mentorship of Prof. Daniel Harries. During that time, he studied the molecular mechanisms by which osmolytes (small solutes) affect the stability and structure of biological polymers in solution, as well as the structuring of deep eutectic solvent, and hydrogen bonding in mixed solutions.

After completing his doctorate, Liel was a postdoc with Prof. Shelly Tzlil at the Technion, working on cellular mechanical coupling. He then moved to Durham, North-Carolina to work with Prof. Michael Rubinstein at Duke University to study polymer physics, focusing on the elasticity of polymer networks. He later started a collaboration with Prof. Masha Niv at the Hebrew University, working on the modeling of taste receptors.

In June 2024, he started his position at Bar-Ilan University as a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor).
