Psycho-Technology Lab Meeting

By Tali Gazit

August 2026

The Psycho-Technology Lab brought together its PhD students, master's students, and alumni for a day of introductions, shared reflection, and discussions about research, academia, and our common journey.

The meeting began with an introduction round, during which each participant presented their research topic and shared what inspired them to pursue it. Although the research projects span a wide range of topics, they all share a common thread: the desire to better understand people in an increasingly technology-driven world.

The discussion then turned to the challenges and opportunities of conducting academic research in Israel over the past few years. We reflected on research during times of uncertainty and crisis, the importance of generating knowledge in the shadow of war, and the intersection between research questions and real-life experiences.

We also addressed the practical aspects of academic life that accompany early-career researchers, including academic writing, publishing in leading journals, and the considerations involved in pursuing master's and doctoral studies.

One of the central messages of the meeting was the importance of remembering that beyond bureaucracy, peer review, journal submissions, and the academic system, research begins with curiosity, a passion for knowledge, and the desire to better understand people and make the world around us a bit better.

During the meeting, we also launched the lab's new website, reflected on the research achievements of the past academic year, and raised a toast to the academic year ahead.

Above all, the Psycho-Technology Lab is a community of researchers who learn, create, and collaborate in the belief that meaningful research is built not only on good ideas, but also on good people. We wish everyone a year filled with curiosity, meaningful research, fruitful collaborations, successful publications, and, above all, a peaceful year that will allow us to focus on what truly matters: discovering, understanding, and creating new knowledge.
