Sex Work and Space

How does sex work unfold across urban and digital spaces?

The location of sex work—both in physical and digital spaces—shapes the experiences of those involved, influences the power dynamics between clients and service providers, and reflects the broader social status of sex work. Studying these spaces, their emergence, and their impact is therefore of great significance.

Zur has investigated the spatial history of sex work in Tel Aviv and continues to examine the physical and digital geographies of sex work. Her research explores how these spaces affect people engaged in sex work, what stories they tell about the city and society, and how they participate in shaping sexuality, femininity, and gender.
