Who We Are

At the Reasoning & Emotion Lab, we study how people think and feel in moments of conflict. We believe that both emotional and cognitive processes are essential for empathy, cooperation, and constructive conflict resolution.

On the emotion side, we examine how conflicts trigger emotions tied to psychological needs—and how emotion regulation shapes the way people navigate and resolve these challenges.

On the reasoning side, we investigate what motivates wise reasoning in conflict—processes like perspective taking, intellectual humility, and dialectical thinking—both in interpersonal and intergroup contexts.
