He specializes in developing scalable, low-cost behavioral interventions for underserved populations. He earned his degrees with honors from Bar-Ilan University and held fellowships at Oxford and South Florida.  At South Florida, he developed CARE2 ONLINE to reduce depression and caregiver burden. At Oxford, he adapted social interventions for digital use ensuring accessibility.

At the Wellness Research Lab, he is exploring hydration's impact on health, aiming to support at-risk populations in increasing water intake.

Dr. Shawn Portal

Research Associate

He has a Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences is a Registered Clinical Nutritionist and holds an M.Sc. in Exercise Physiology.  He has nearly 25 years of professional experience.  This has included teaching, counselling, conducting research and consulting for academic institutions, hi-tech companies, sports teams and leading food manufacturers.  He appears regularly on Israeli television to discuss nutrition and fitness.

At the Wellness Research Lab he is collaborating on a population-based study of postprandial glycemic management.

Dr. David Erez

He holds a PhD in Health Systems Management and an MSc in Exercise Physiology. He is as a research physiologist specializing in influence of sleep on health and performance. At the Wellness Research Lab, he designs and assesses sleep-centered interventions to enhance sleep duration, quality, and architecture. His work translates basic science into behaviorally grounded interventions to improve sleep. He focuses on identifying sustainable lifestyle tweaks to enhance wellness and mitigate age-related illnesses. By optimizing sleep patterns, he aims to extend healthspan and lifespan.

Alon A. Rabinowitz

Alon A. Rabinowitz is studying software engineering at Shenkar College.  He has several years of experience in data management and statistical analysis of large data sets.  His research has focused on improving the measurement of clinical research rating scales by developing and applying algorithms for detecting rating errors.  He is currently collaborating on the Wellness Lab "More Walking" study.
