Dr. Shahar Somin

Assistant Professor

I am an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering at Bar Ilan university, Israel. I head the Network Intelligence and Coordination Lab (NICL). Our research focuses on the hidden mechanisms governing connectivity, coordination, and influence in complex systems. By integrating graph theory, temporal modeling, and AI-driven approaches, we uncover cross-system dependencies, detect coordinated activity, and develop new frameworks for network resilience, security, and predictive analytics.

I obtained my PhD from Tel-Aviv university under the supervision of Erez Shmueli in 2022 and have been a postdoctoral researcher at MIT Media Lab, working with Alex 'Sandy' Pentland until joining BIU.
