Quantum thermodynamics

We study how thermodynamic laws and intuitions emerge, and sometimes fail, in microscopic quantum systems driven far from equilibrium. A major focus is identifying quantum resources (coherence, correlations, contextuality) that reshape energy and entropy flows, and turning them into operational signatures that can be tested in realistic platforms. Our work spans quantum thermal machines (heat engines, refrigerators, and energy storage at the few-level/ion/qubit scale), fundamental limits such as the third law, and fluctuation relations beyond the standard two-time measurement paradigm, using tools like quasiprobability descriptions of heat and work statistics to capture genuinely quantum effects.
