How does aging affect speech processing?
As we age, our brains undergo changes that impact cognitive processing in various ways. However, the extent to which language abilities are affected by aging remains uncertain. Understanding these effects is essential for differentiating between healthy aging and the early signs of cognitive impairments, as well as for screening abnormal conditions.
Studies have demonstrated that distinct speech patterns can often be associated with different types of aphasia and dementia. Building on these findings, our goal is to develop more refined linguistic analyses of speech and apply these methods specifically to the Hebrew language.
