Alon Bartal, Ph.D.
Short Bio
I am an Assistant Professor (Senior Lecturer) of Information Systems at the Graduate Business School at Bar-Ilan University (BIU), where I lead the BartaLab (Bartal-Lab). In addition, I serve as the Director of the Information Systems Program at BIU. My research focuses on leveraging machine learning to model and analyze large, dynamic, and interconnected systems. Specifically, I explore complex, richly-labeled relational structures, such as graphs and networks, across various scales, from protein interactions in a cell to social interactions in human societies. My work spans applications in commonsense reasoning, recommender systems, computational social science, as well as computational biology and health. In particular, I'm interested in harnessing social media data to address biomedical challenges, bridging the gap between computational models and real-world healthcare problems.
